Construction -Tone Bars
Marrying and gluing the tone bars to the top is critical. A myriad of complex, ever-changing angles can challenge one’s skills. The setup shown here produces good results and takes little time.

The smallish spring clamps are VERY strong. After roughing out the shape of the tone bars, the blank is pushed down onto a piece of sandpaper and the clamps are set. The sandpaper (120-240 grit) is then run back and forth to produce a clean fit.

With the heavier grits (120-180), a piece of used paper helps avoid the possibility that a loose piece of grit will scar the soft surface

Using the strong spring clamps, pushing down on the tone bars while setting the clamps provides more than adequate pressure for gluing.
